SEOUL, April 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korea had the 13th-highest net value of investment funds in the world last year, unchanged from the previous year's standing, market data showed Friday.

The net value of investment funds in South Korea stood at US$426.5 billion at the end of last year, down 1.3 percent on-quarter, according to the data from the Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA).

The data showed that the net value of investment funds around the globe reached $37.6 trillion as of the end of December, down 7.4 percent from three months earlier.

The United States topped the list with $17.71 trillion, followed by Luxemburg with $3.88 trillion, France with $2.03 trillion, Australia with $1.94 trillion and Ireland with $1.74 trillion, KOFIA said, noting also that China was sixth, and Japan 11th.

All regions across the world, including the Americas, saw their total value of funds decrease in the fourth quarter due to bearish markets, including the Dow Jones industrial average and Japan's Nikkei 225, amid lingering concerns over a global economic slowdown and trade frictions between the U.S. and China, according to experts.
