A large cruise ship enters the port of Busan.

Jagalchi market and duty free shops downtown are crowded with tourists that just got off the cruise ship.

The number of cruise ships visiting Busan this year is more than two hundred.

The city of Busan announced the goal of welcoming five million foreign tourists this year.

Experts argue that to achieve this goal and to bring in even more tourists, the kindness of the workers in the tourism industry is the key.

A campaign to welcome tourists to Busan with smile and kindness, as it is the Year of Visiting Korea, was launched.

Workers in the tourism industry vowed to become tourists’ friends with bright smiles.

<Lee Hyung-do / Call Taxi Driver> “I will try my best to provide kind services to foreigners visiting Busan and also to Korean customers so that tourism in Busan can grow more.”

Participants cleaned the Gwangbok-ro area and distributed booklets including tips necessary when meeting foreign tourists and greetings to shopkeepers.

<Seo Byung-soo / Mayor of Busan> “To make Busan a place that visitors want to return to, I hope that all citizens of Busan continue to smile and provide kind service.”

The tourism industry, which suffered losses due to MERS last year, is showing a strong desire to overcome this crisis with smiles and kindness, as it is the Year of Visiting Korea.
