"War and Busan" in "Remember the Day" Exhibition

What was Busan like during the Korean War in 1950, a city that was the final destination for many refugees?

An exhibition that recreated the Busan of that time was launched.

Kim Jae-hong has more.

This is a shelter where artists who gathered in Busan drank tea and ameliorated their sufferings from the war.

The place that recreated the reality of sixty years ago reminds us of Busan, the city of refuge.

Mother and Son, which is a piece that painter Baek Young-soo has recently created, welcomes spectators. Painter Baek was a regular patron of Mildawon.

Other than Mildawon, many different artifacts from the war are on display, as if having returned to the era of the Korean War.

<Choi Geun-sik / Suyeong-gu, Busan> "There was a well in our house, and I remembered digging the well. So I pretended like I was digging this well too. This makes me think a lot about the old days..."

This exhibition was planned with the intention of using the Korean War to remind us of the meaning of war and the value of peace.

<Kim Ji-woo / Curator at UN Peace Memorial Hall> "This exhibition tells us that the Korean War is not a distant past, but the story of my family and my neighbors."

The wide variety of artifacts displayed was made possible thanks to those who gladly donated the artifacts.

After the UN Peace Memorial Hall opened in 2014, about a hundred people from thirteen countries donated artifacts.

<Jeon Woo-hong / Artifact Donor> "Among the artifacts that I collected, there were some that were related to the UN. So I am honored to have donated them as the Hall opened."

This exhibition will continue for a year for free.

'전쟁과 부산'…'리멤버 더 데이' 기획전

1950년 6·25 전쟁 당시 피란민들의 최종 종착지였던 부산의 모습은 어땠을까요.

당시 부산의 모습을 재현한 기획전시회가 열렸습니다.

김재홍 기자가 안내합니다.

부산에 모인 예술가들이 차를 마시며 전쟁의 아픔을 달래던 쉼터.

60여년 전 당시를 재현한 곳이 피란수도 부산을 떠올리게 합니다.

밀다원의 단골 고객이었던 백영수 화백이 최근에 그린 작품인 '모자상'도 관객을 맞습니다.

밀다원 외에 다양한 전쟁 유물이 전시돼 6·25 전쟁 당시로 돌아간 듯한 착각을 일으킵니다.

<최근식 / 부산 수영구> "우리집에 우물이 있었는데 우물 파던 생각이 나서 우물도 한번 파는 시늉도 해보았습니다. 옛날 생각도 많이 나서 이런 이야기를…"

이번 전시회는 6·25 전쟁을 통해 전쟁의 의미와 평화의 소중함을 되새기자는 취지로 기획됐습니다.

<김지우 / 유엔평화기념과 학예사> "6·25 전쟁이 먼 이야기가 아니라 결국에는 내 가족이자 내 이웃의 이야기 라는것을 전하는 그런 전시입니다."

기획전의 다양한 볼거리는 당시 유물을 선뜻 내놓은 기증자들이 있었기 때문입니다.

2014년에 유엔평화기념관이 개관한 이후 13개 국가에서 100명 가까운 사람들이 유물을 기증했습니다.

<전우홍 / 유물 기증자> "제가 수집한 유물중에 유엔과 관련된 기념품들이 있어서 여기 설립과 동시에 기꺼이 기증을 하게 되어 영광스럽습니다."

이번 기획전시는 1년 간 무료로 계속됩니다.
