San Francisco Education Board Supports Textbook on Comfort Women

The San Francisco Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution that supports an amendment of the education curriculum, which calls for the inclusion of the contents on comfort women in history textbooks used in the State of California.

The resolution reveals that the Board supports the efforts by the Department of Education to include relevant issues in textbooks so that all students in the state can learn about them.

The San Francisco Department of Education is also pushing for works to include the issues of comfort women in the curriculum for middle and high school students, which the city’s Board of Education is reviewing, separately from amending the state’s educational curriculum.

샌프란시스코 교육위 "역사교과서 위안부 교육 지지"

미국 샌프란시스코 교육위원회가 캘리포니아 주의 역사교과서에 일본군 위안부 관련 내용을 포함하기로 한 교육과정 개정안을 지지하는 결의안을 만장일치로 통과시켰습니다.

결의안은 위안부 관련 내용을 주 전체 학생들이 배울 수 있도록 교과서에 포함시키려는 주 교육부의 노력을 지지한다고 밝혔습니다.

샌프란시스코 교육청은 주 교육과정 개정과 별도로 시 교육위원회가 심의하는 중·고교 과정에 위안부 관련 내용을 포함시키는 작업도 진행 중입니다.
