A study found that red ginseng is effective in improving memory for patients with Alzheimer's disease.
A research team led by Dr. Heo Jae-hyuk at the neurology department of Seoul Medical Center revealed that they reached such a conclusion after measuring the cognitive abilities of fourteen patients with Alzheimer's disease after consuming red ginseng.
The research team had the patients consume 4.5g of red ginseng every day for twelve weeks and conducted a functional test of the frontal lobe, which tests one's cognitive functions, and a brainwave test that shows brain functioning. They found that in both tests, the figures increased.
The findings of this study appeared in a recent issue of an international journal, The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
