Among the many surprises foreigners in Korea experience is the mobile communication services.

Noh Eun-ji has more.

In Korea, which boasts the world’s best telecommunication infrastructure, eight out of ten people use smartphones.

We asked foreigners what they thought about Korean mobile communication services.

<Joanna Olivera / Canada> "In Canada, sometimes you cannot connect to the internet in buildings or subways, but in Korea there isn’t such inconvenience and you can use it quickly, so it’s good.”

<Christina Johnson / United States> "Unlike America, wireless internet is installed everywhere in Korea, and so I often use the Internet with my smartphone in the subways."

As a result of asking 300 foreigners from OECD member countries who stayed in Korea for over 90 days, the overall satisfaction level was 72.6 points.

In particular, 83.1 points were given for wireless internet, which is approximately 20 points higher than the respondents’ home countries, and as if to reflect this, the use of wireless internet was significantly higher among the mobile communications services.

In contrast, the average monthly service fee, taking aside the cost of the cell phone, was 47,689 won, which is approximately 4,000 won cheaper than their home countries.

<Park Jeong-eun / PR Department, Korea Telecommunications Operators Association> "We need continuous investments and interest so that Korea can maintain the world’s best mobile communication service quality that is recognized by foreigners and lead the way in the 5G era.

Superior mobile communication services, hand-in-hand with the title of a strong telecommunication nation, is satisfying people all over the world
