The Gwangju Biennale, a festival of contemporary art, will begin its 66-day journey, starting with the opening ceremony today (Sept. 1).
This year’s theme is “The Eighth Climate (What Does Art Do?)” where 252 works of contemporary art by 120 artists from 37 countries will be on display.
A wide variety of events, including public participation programs, forums, special exhibitions and commemorative exhibitions, will also be held.
Ms. Choo Mi-ae, leader of The Minjoo Party, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Kim Jong-duk, honorary ambassador and actor Hyun Bin, and people from the domestic and international art industry will participate in the opening ceremony.
