Magnitude 3.3 Quake Shakes Gyeongju

At around 11 p.m. last night, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 occurred in a region 10 kilometers southwest of Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

The Meteorological Agency said that “this is an aftershock from the quake that took place on September 12, and we expect no damage.”

After the quake, about a hundred to two hundred inquiries about the quake were reported in the fire defense headquarters of North Gyeongsang Province, Daegu, and Ulsan.

An official from the Meteorological Agency explained that “it looks like the shock was felt in the Ulsan, Daegu and Gyeongju regions” and that “in the future, aftershocks will likely continue for up to several months.”

As a result, the total count of aftershocks from the Gyeongju earthquake was 471.

기상청 "경주서 규모 3.3 지진…여진 471회"

어제 밤 11시쯤 경북 경주시 남남서쪽 10km 지역에서 규모 3.3의 지진이 발생했습니다.

기상청은 "9월 12일 발생한 지진의 여진으로 피해는 없을 것으로 예상한다"고 밝혔습니다.

지진 발생 이후 경북소방본부, 대구소방본부, 울산소방본부에 100건에서 200여 건의 지진 문의가 접수됐습니다.

기상청 관계자는 "울산, 대구, 경주 지역에서 이 지진을 감지한 것으로 보인다"며 "앞으로 길게는 몇 개월 더 여진이 계속될 것으로 보인다"고 설명했습니다.

이에 따라 지금까지 경주 지진으로 인한 여진 횟수는 총 471회로 집계됐습니다.
