With former President Park Geun-hye now under arrest, many are pointing out whether her lawyers had the wrong strategy all along.
Rumors have it that Park is looking for new attorneys with her sister-in-law and attorney Seo Hyang-hee.
Kim Jun-eok has more.
Attorney Yoo Young-ha, hired last year to represent Park Geun-hye, was criticized at his first press conference for citing "a woman's private life" as his defense, lacking logic.
<Yoo Young-ha / Lawyer> "I would like you to take into consideration that she has a life as a woman before as a president. (What has the case got to do with her private life?) I just told you about protecting her life as a woman before as a president."
Afterwards, Park's lawyers irritated the judges at the Constitutional Court with unreasonable behavior in their defense hearings.
<Kim Pyeong-woo / Lawyer> "This makes you a chief representative of the claimant. Then you are not a judge anymore."
The lawyers prompted only very passive responses from Park during the investigations by the prosecutors and the independent counsel, and during the impeachment trial at the Constitutional Court. This boomeranged back and hurt them.
Park Ji-man, the younger brother of Park Geun-hye, reportedly visited Park at her residence with his wife and attorney Seo Hyang-hee in the morning of the arrest warrant review, and spewed out his discontent towards the lawyers.
While it is being rumored that Mr. and Mrs. Park are working to hire additional lawyers that formerly served as court presidents, many also predict that big law firms will find it difficult to take their case for political reasons.
