Over the past two days, on April 8 and 9, 28 customers of CitiBank suffered from illegal withdrawals of their money made from Thailand.
It was reported that the illegal withdrawals were made with cloned cards forged based on the personal information leaked from 60 or more ATMs, which were infected with a malware last month.
At the time of information leakage, the financial authorities put a hold on the accounts suspected by credit card companies of being used for leaking information and contacted customers to have new cards issued. However, only Citi Card did not comply with such measures.
The Financial Supervisory Service is reportedly holding Citi Card responsible and planning to take strong disciplinary measures.
