Toshinobu Sugawara (C), chief of the International Exchanges Association in the northeastern Japanese city of Kurihara, and other Japanese people bow toward a portrait of Korean independence fighter Ahn Jung-geun during a memorial for Ahn in Seoul on March 26, 2019, to mark the 109th anniversary of his death. The independence fighter, under the Japanese colonial rule of Korea, was executed at a prison in China by Japanese authorities after being arrested in 1909 for assassinating Ito Hirobumi, the Japanese resident-general in Korea, at a railway station in Harbin, a city in China's Heilongjiang Province.
