A ceremony to lay "Sinjungdo" in state is held at Beomeo Temple in Busan on Nov. 20, 2019. Sinjungdo is a painting of various Buddhas, drawn by Korean monk painter Min Gyu in 1891. The 144.8- by 146.1-centimeter work, which was reportedly taken abroad from the temple during or right after the Korean War (1950-53), was put up for auction in Los Angeles in September. The Jogye Order, South Korea's largest Buddhist sector, bought the painting through a bidding process, and recently took it back home. (Yonhap)
