Ex-president gets 17-year jail term

Former President Lee Myung-bak arrives at the Seoul High Court on Feb. 19, 2020, to attend his trial. Later in the day, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison for bribery and embezzlement, fined 13 billion won (US$10.9 million) and ordered to forfeit 5.78 billion won. Lee, who was freed on bail from a detention center on March 6, was detained after the verdict. (Yonhap)
