South Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-kun (R) and Rob Rapson, charge d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy, sign a defense cost sharing deal at the foreign ministry in Seoul on April 8, 2021. The deal, called the Special Measures Agreement, calls for Seoul to pay 1.183 trillion won (US$1.05 billion) this year, up from 1.038 trillion won in 2019, for the upkeep of the 28,500-strong U.S. Forces Korea.
