Officials and archeologists from the Cultural Heritage Administration make an on-site examination of what is believed to be one of a number of ancient burial mounds, square at the front and rounded at the rear, at an expressway construction site in Naju, South Jeolla Province, southwestern South Korea, on Dec. 8, 2021. A burial mound with square frontage and a round rear, known to be a typical ancient tomb style in Japan, is called a "janggo" tomb, as it resembles the Korean traditional drum, janggo. The Naju municipality said it will hold consultations with the administration to conduct research aimed at finding out when the tombs had been built. (Yonhap)
