118-year-old Hwasun Mine to disappear into history

A coal crusher is left idle in Hwasun Mine in the county, 283 kilometers south of Seoul, in this photo taken May 31, 2023. The mine, which began operation in 1905, will be permanently shut down on June 30, as a result of the declining demand for coal. (Yonhap)
