118-year-old Hwasun Mine to disappear into history

Miners come out of a shaft after finishing work to close a shaft at Hwasun Mine in the county, 283 kilometers south of Seoul, on May 31, 2023. The mine, which began operation in 1905, will be permanently shut down on June 30, as a result of the declining demand for coal. (Yonhap)
